THE FAIR HOUSING ACT

                                                                   You-and all other U.S. residents-have the right to
                                                                   rent or buy a home in any neighborhood if you can
                                                                   afford it. Any effort to block your right to fair
                                                                   housing is called housing discrimination.

FAIR HOUSING
Fair housing means you may freely choose a place to live without regard to race, color, religion, sex,
national origin, disability or familial status. Fair housing is a right protected by federal and state laws.
Housing discrimination is against the law.

The Fair Housing Center of Northern Alabama has been created to ensure that all who seek housing
have equal opportunity to rent, purchase, finance and insure properties they choose.

The Fair Housing Center works with government agencies and attorneys to ensure that fair housing
laws are enforced. The Center provides free counseling for alleged discrimination complaints.
